Alison Smith (host)

Alison Smith is the author of three books of poetry and one chapbook from Gaspereau Press. Her most recent collection, This Kind of Thinking Does No Good, was awarded the 2019 J.M. Abraham Award for Atlantic Poetry and was shortlisted for the 2020 Nova Scotia Masterworks Arts Award. She has written for radio, the stage, and has taught poetry workshops in prison, schools and other community settings. Alison also makes collages.

Cory Lavender (regular contributor)

Cory Lavender is a poet of African Nova Scotian and European descent living in Mi’kma’ki. His chapbooks are Lawson Roy’s Revelation (Gaspereau Press, 2018) and Ballad of Bernie "Bear" Roy (knife | fork | book, 2020). A full-length collection of poems, Come One Thing Another, is forthcoming with Gaspereau Press in 2024.

Michelle Elrick (regular contributor)

Michelle Elrick is a multidisciplinary artist working in print, film and performance. Her latest release is "Hello Emily D.," an audio poem created in conjunction with CBC Radio for International Women's Day. She is one-half of the duo River of Diamonds, alongside her collaborator and partner, Michael Belyea. Michelle's latest book is Then/Again, a poetic investigation of the origins of home. Alice Burdick (regular contributor)

Alice Burdick is the author of one book of selected poems: Deportment, and four full-length poetry collections: Book of Short Sentences; Holler; Flutter; and Simple Master. Her practice often includes collaboration, and recently her poetry has been used in Woodlight, a series of films created by Hear Here Productions. Her poems and essays have appeared in multiple anthologies and chapbooks, folios, and broadsides. She visits elementary and high school English classes as a “Poet In Your Class” through Poetry in Voice/les Voix de la Poésie. She is also a mentor and freelance editor, proofreader, and manuscript assessor. See more about Alice here.
